Three things you need to know
Why your hourly rate is higher than you think
52 × 40
is not your working year
After holidays, public holidays, sickness and paperwork, often only two thirds is left to bill.
30% ≠ 30%
margin is not markup
A 30% markup on €100 gives €130, but that is only a 23% margin. For a 30% margin you charge €142.86.
net ≠ turnover
what you charge, you don’t keep
You pass on the VAT, and from what is left, costs, social security contributions and taxes still come off.
Bureel
An app from the Bureel
Marge is part of Bureel, a family of small apps for your business paperwork, each in plain language and without tracking. Marge tells you what to charge; the other apps help with invoices, receipts and the law.
